Biography: Salvatore Iannuzzi
There are few companies that are more well known than Monster, the jobs website. The man responsible for running the company is CEO and President Salvatore Iannuzzi. In order to get to where he is today Iannuzzi has worked his way up the corporate ladder at a number of very large companies. As a result he is well suited to the job of leading Monster.
Sal Iannuzzi got his start working as an accountant after graduating from St Francis College with a degree in the field. He would work his way up the ranks of accountants working mainly in the banking sector. He would hold several leadership positions in this field eventually becoming the Chief Administrative Officer of Deutsche bank. He would leave this position to take a similar one with CIBC World Markets before eventually going out on his own to start an investment house of his own. This venture would be fairly short lived as he would take a position as a senior executive with a technology company called Symbol Technologies.
After working for Symbol for a couple of years the company would be taken over by Motorola who kept Iannuzzi on as a senior executive. However he would soon leave the company when he was offered the chance to become the president and CEO of Monster the jobs website. At the time that Iannuzzi took over the job of running Monster the company was in serious trouble. The NASDAQ was threatening to delist the company because of issues with their reporting of financial results. This was a big part of the reason that they brought Iannuzzi on board; they needed somebody with a strong accounting back ground in charge to get the mess sorted out.
Not only did Iannuzzi get the accounting problem sort out he also helped the company to thrive despite a huge increase in competition in the sector. One of the main reasons for this was the merger with Hotjobs which brought them into partnership with internet giant Yahoo. Hotjobs had been one of Monster's early competitors and had been bought out by Yahoo. However they never really had any success with it so they sold the company to Monster. At the same time since Yahoo wanted to be able to offer a job board on its site it reached a partnership agreement with Monster. This deal has made the future of the company a lot brighter and was largely arranged by Iannuzzi.
Like most successful people Sal Iannuzzi has made a real effort to give back. One of the areas that he is really involved in is scouting. Iannuzzi was a Boy Scout himself and is a firm believer that it played a major role in making him the success that he is. As a result he is a major supporter of the movement and heavily involved in it.
